Discover Újezd U Boskovic

Újezd U Boskovic combines the wooded landscape of the Drahanská vrchovina uplands with marked trails, a summer leisure centre, and an unusually rich history. Its location on the southwestern edge of these uplands makes the village an interesting choice if you would like to combine active days outdoors with cultural discoveries. Your stay can be organised in very different ways: with a hike through the municipality, a cycling tour along designated routes, a visit to the water, or a search for traces leading from prehistoric settlement to medieval castles.

The cadastral area of Újezd U Boskovic covers 909 hectares of forest. Forests therefore account for 71 percent of the total area and clearly shape the character of the village. Újezd U Boskovic lies on south-west-facing, sloping terrain at an altitude of approximately 510 metres. It is precisely this combination of elevation, slope, and extensive forest area that gives the surroundings a distinct landscape identity, without requiring you to focus on a single viewpoint or attraction.

A cascade of small forest ponds has also been restored in the woodland. This feature adds a series of bodies of water within the forest to the landscape. When choosing accommodation, therefore, what matters most is how you would like to spend your days: would you like to experience nature along marked trails, use cycling routes, or combine an excursion with a cultural stop?

Marked trails for hiking and cycling

To the east of the municipality, a marked green hiking route runs through the cadastral area. It leads from Blansko via Petrovice, Kuničky, Boskovice, Suchý, and Žďárná to Sloup.

There are also specific connections for cycling tours. Cycle Route 5117 runs through the municipality from Boskovice nádr. via Kamenný žleb, Žďár, and Petrovice to Blansko. Cycle Route 5229 connects Cycle Routes 5203 and 5117 between Divoký žleb and Kamenný žleb.

Summer break at the outdoor swimming pool

The Koupaliště leisure centre offers another aspect of the village. During the summer months, it operates a swimming pool containing treated drinking water. The leisure centre has toilets and an open snack bar. In addition to forests and trails, this provides an explicitly seasonal leisure option. The Koupaliště can therefore add a break by the water to a more active day out, without reducing the village to a single type of travel experience.

Prehistory, the hillfort, and Doubravský hrad Castle

The history of Újezd U Boskovic stretches far back before the Middle Ages. Archaeological finds of stone weapons provide evidence of prehistoric settlement. To the north-west of Újezd U Boskovic there was once a hillfort site surrounded by a triple ditch. The ditches were two to three metres deep and five metres wide.

The ruins of Doubravský hrad Castle lie south-west of Újezd U Boskovic. The castle was built in the second half of the 13th century and fell into disrepair in the middle of the 15th century. Together with the former hillfort and the prehistoric finds, it creates a historical arc spanning several periods. You can therefore plan your stay not only around the landscape and activities, but also around the historical traces described in different directions around the village.

A more recent local tradition is also represented by a Masopustní průvod carnival procession, which took place in Újezd U Boskovic on 7 February 2026. This specific event date is in the past and is therefore relevant primarily as an insight into the cultural life of the village, not as an indication of a future date.
