Castle Park and Townscape

Habrovany combines protected architectural heritage with a park that not only shapes the character of the town, but also provides space for quiet exploration. The castle and park are protected as a cultural monument. The castle itself was rebuilt in the Empire style in the first half of the 19th century and incorporated into a park landscape. The castle park is open year-round, around the clock. Admission is free, but visitors enter at their own risk. At the same time, the park is explicitly described as a quiet zone serving visitors for recreation and relaxation.

A second distinctive landmark is the Church of the Most Holy Trinity and Saints Simon and Jude. It stands on a slight elevation on the western edge of Habrovany and is surrounded by an enclosing wall. The church was enlarged and fitted with a vaulted ceiling in 1730. In front of the building there is also a late Baroque stone statue of Saint Florian dating from 1791. Several clearly dated testimonies therefore meet at this site: the enlargement of the church in the early 18th century and the statue from the late 18th century. Trees, Water and a Connection with Nature

The landscape aspect of the castle park is also noteworthy. It features several dendrological points of interest, meaning special aspects of its tree population. This draws attention to the park itself, not only to the castle building. In 2025, the castle park hosted the annual veteran vehicle gathering “Habrovanské otvírání šoupátek,” which was held for the 23rd time that year. The event adds a time-specific occasion to the town’s permanent features and shows that the park is also used for special gatherings.

Another local tradition is the “Habrovanská slivoviciáda,” featuring a sauerkraut tasting. It took place in Habrovany in 2018, 2019 and 2025. Together with the veteran vehicle gathering, it expands the picture of the town to include regional event and culinary traditions, without implying that it is a regular event in another year.
