Branišovice – Cultural Monuments and Cycling

Branišovice combines architectural history, local memory, and a designated cycling route. Particularly distinctive is the Church of Saint Lawrence: it has an Early Gothic core dating from the early 13th century and is also considered the oldest monument in Branišovice. Church, Chateau, and Historic Routes

Branišovice Chateau adds another protected cultural site to this picture. It is protected as a cultural monument and dates from around the turn of the 17th and 18th centuries.

The Imperial Road was built between 1805 and 1811. At the northern edge of Branišovice, on the road towards Šumice, stands a statue of Saint John of Nepomuk. Its present form dates from 1911. The traditional folk costume is also part of Branišovice’s cultural character. It belonged to the West Moravian type, specifically to the southeast of the Krumlov region, which was shaped by the intermingling of Czech and German community influences. For decades, boys with rattles have gathered in front of the belfry of the Holy Trinity during the Easter traditions. The site is therefore associated with a recurring local tradition. Another established event is Svatovavřinecké hody. It is the largest event of the Branišovická chasa and takes place annually. Branišovice on the Znojemská Wine Trail

Route I of the Znojemská wine trail runs through the village. The main branch, Route I, runs from Hrušovansko to Znojmo mostly through flat and hilly terrain, as well as along Class II and III roads and field paths. The route thus connects Branišovice with a longer section between Hrušovansko and Znojmo and passes through different types of terrain.
