Sivice

Sivice brings together a marked cycle path, a diverse cultural landscape and vibrant local traditions. The cycle path runs through the village and leads north to the Moravian Karst and south to the protected heritage zone of the Austerlitz battlefield. This gives Sivice two clearly distinct directions for planning a trip: to the north, the landscape of the Moravian Karst is the focus, while to the south lies the historic surroundings of the battlefield. Nature in the Sivice Forest

The character of the landscape includes the Sivice Forest, which is home to important plant, fungi and animal species. The forest contains Eurosiberian steppic oak woods and oak-hornbeam forests of the Galio-Carpinetum association.

Another natural monument is the old Šmigula pear tree in the Nové hory area. It was chosen as Tree of the Year in the Roketnice microregion. Together with the Sivice Forest, it creates a landscape shaped not only by extensive natural areas but also by individual remarkable natural features.

Monuments and Sacred Sites

Several small cultural monuments stand along roads and in the countryside. A Baroque cross dating from 1772 stands on the road to Tvarožná. Near this Baroque cross is the Reconciliation Stone, considered probably the oldest monument in Sivice. On Štumperk Hill stand wayside shrines registered as monuments. Another column-shaped wayside shrine from the 19th century stands on a forest path and is considered a cultural and historical monument.

The Sivice Chapel is also among the documented cultural features of the village. In 2012, a retable with a painting, an altar and an ambo were installed there. For a stay focused on regional history, this makes it possible to combine larger historical areas with less conspicuous monuments along the way, without reducing the village to a single attraction.

Traditions and Events

A distinctive local tradition is Easter rattling. From Maundy Thursday to Holy Saturday, rattles and rattling carts are used to replace the church bells. The custom gives the Easter period in Sivice its own local character.

Local events also include the Josefský košt in March and the Sivické pivní slavnosti in June. These two events provide different seasonal highlights: the Josefský košt takes place in March, while the Sivické pivní slavnosti are held in June.

More Activities Locally

The Sivice sports complex includes a multi-purpose court with artificial turf for tennis, volleyball and floorball. The sports complex also has a football pitch. Alongside the cycle path, forest and monuments, this provides a documented sporting focus as well.
