Čermákovice: History, Alinkov and Cycle Route 5006

Čermákovice combines a long history with clearly recognizable traces in the present-day municipality. Part of the municipality lies within Rokytná Nature Park, while the village also preserves evidence of an agricultural past, historic architectural forms and a documented cycling route through South Moravia. This gives you a destination whose themes range from cultural history and landscapes to active exploration.

The historical points of reference are not limited to a single era. The Neolithic settlement of the area, the first written mention in 1270, the chapel dating from 1896 and the linden tree planted in 1937 represent several historical layers existing side by side.

Local History from the Neolithic Period to the Present

The area around Čermákovice was already settled in the Neolithic period. The first written mention of the village dates from 1270. These two milestones give the local history a broad chronological span, without Čermákovice losing its agricultural character: throughout its entire history, the municipality of Čermákovice was exclusively agricultural in character.

Next to the municipal office in Čermákovice stands the Chapel of Saint James the Greater. It dates from 1896. Another prominent memorial feature is a linden tree planted in 1937 to commemorate the death of T. G. Masaryk.

Alinkov: Farmstead, Mill and Sgraffito

The Alinkov Farmstead is particularly distinctive. It is a preserved, enclosed rectangular courtyard complex. The ensemble also includes an adjoining residential building with a mill. The façade of the farmstead features sgraffito decoration, a design technique in which decorative forms are worked into the façade plaster.

The farmstead was also a historic settlement of the Anabaptists. In Alinkov, regional architecture and religious history come together.

The agricultural continuity and the Alinkov Farmstead belong to different levels: the former describes the character of the municipality as a whole, while the latter is a specific preserved ensemble with an enclosed courtyard complex, an adjoining residential building with a mill and sgraffito decoration.

Cycling through Čermákovice and Rokytná Nature Park

For active exploration, the 90-kilometre Cycle Route No. 5006 from Znojmo via Moravský Krumlov to Jevišovice passes through Čermákovice. The cycle route runs mostly on paved roads and is suitable for all types of bicycles.

Rokytná Nature Park adds a landscape perspective to these cultural and historical themes. The precise geographical statement is important here: not the entire municipality, but only part of it lies within the nature park.

A Vanished Fortress Marked in the Landscape

The former fortress of Čermákovice has almost completely disappeared without a trace. However, a depression and a change in elevation can still be seen in the gardens belonging to the residential houses, recalling the medieval structure.
