Discover Repesin: Educational Trail, Nature Reserves and Cultural Heritage

Řepešín combines a river landscape, protected nature and rural cultural history. The Na soutoku educational trail along the Blanice runs through the Na soutoku Nature Reserve. The surrounding area also includes the Čertova stráň geological landscape, the Řepešín Linden, a characteristic farmstead gate and traces of historic gold mining. The various destinations are spread across river, gorge, forest, farmstead and stream banks.

The Na soutoku educational trail along the Blanice

The main entrance to the Na soutoku educational trail is at a bridge over the Blanice on the road between Záblatí and Řepešín. The trail runs through the Na soutoku Nature Reserve. The bridge, river course and protected area therefore form a shared basis for orientation at this destination. An important feature is the water level: When water levels are high, the Blanice can leave its riverbed and flood the Na soutoku educational trail. Possible flooding is therefore one of the conditions that must be taken into account when planning this route. The trail thus represents a landscape in which the course of the river influences both how the route is experienced and how it can be used.

Čertova stráň: Gorge, forest and geological formations

The Čertova stráň geological landscape lies in the cadastral area of Řepešín. Čertova stráň is a nature reserve with the gorge of the Boubínský potok and stands of fir and scree forest. The steep slopes are shaped by periglacial weathering, which produces frost cliffs and slope scree. The gorge, forest stands, frost cliffs and slope scree thus form different facets of this nature reserve. The Řepešín Linden adds a very old natural monument to the landscape: It is several centuries old and has a trunk circumference of 820 cm. This provides different focal points for visitors interested in natural history. Those who find geological processes fascinating can focus on the frost cliffs and slope scree; those who appreciate old trees will find the linden to be an independent natural monument alongside the gorge and forest.

Architecture and traces of historic gold mining

Rural architecture is also part of the character of Řepešín. House No. 3 in Řepešín has a gate characteristic of South Bohemian farmsteads. On the right bank of the Cikánský potok, two groups of sluice heaps from historic gold mining lie in a meadow and in the forest. The Zlatý (Cikánský) potok gold-washing site is designated as immovable cultural heritage. The rural farmstead at No. 43 is likewise designated as immovable cultural heritage. The traces of gold mining are not located in a single place, but along the stream bank, in the meadow and in the forest. The farmstead gate of House No. 3 complements these geographically dispersed testimonies with a concrete example of South Bohemian farmstead architecture. In this way, the rural history of Řepešín can be explored both through a detail of farmstead architecture and through gold extraction connected with the watercourse.
