Malý Polec Natural Area

Malý Polec is a raised bog below Churáňovský vrch. The area lies at an altitude of 1,108 to 1,183 metres and about 1 kilometre from Zadov. Since 1992, Malý Polec has been protected as a natural monument to safeguard endangered plants and animals. From Zadov, you can reach the area via a hiking trail towards Zlatá Studna. This allows you to combine a stay in the highland landscape with a clearly designated natural area and an existing trail connection, without viewing the landscape merely as a vantage point.

Churches and Historic Traces in Stachy

The Church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary was built between 1842 and 1849. Inside is a crystal chandelier that recalls Stachy’s glassmaking past. Another sacred monument is the Baroque Chapel of Our Lady of the Seven Sorrows, dating from 1808. Stašské Square is the starting point for numerous hiking trails, naturally combining a visit to the town with further exploration.

Museum and Architectural Heritage

The Pošumavské Fire Museum in Stachy displays fire engines, fire pumps, uniforms, as well as historic firefighting technology and equipment, across two floors. The seven runs, totalling 4.5 kilometres, represent a distinct winter sports focus alongside the cultural attractions in Stachy. This allows you to choose between a day at Zadov-Churáňov and a visit to the town with its churches, museum and architectural heritage.
