Cerna V Posumavi on Lake Lipno

Černá v Pošumaví combines the landscape of Lake Lipno with diverse opportunities for active days, nature experiences, culture and events. The town is located in the Šumava Protected Landscape Area on the left bank of Lake Lipno, specifically at its widest point. This brings together a waterscape and protected nature – two different focal points that you can take into account when choosing your accommodation and excursions.

Trails by the water and activities on Lake Lipno

A predominantly mixed-use, 740 m long route for pedestrians and cyclists runs along Lake Lipno from the centre of Černá v Pošumaví below the wastewater treatment plant and continues under gardens. It then connects to the Černá v Pošumaví–Hůrka walking and cycling path. For an outing with different age groups, this route therefore offers a clearly described course between the town centre, the lakeshore and the onward connection.

There are also several possibilities on the water. Fishing from boats is possible on Lake Lipno; boats can be rented at several locations. Camp Jestřábí offers pedal boat rentals. The Lipno Windsurfing school in Černá v Pošumaví offers individual lessons, and the necessary equipment can also be rented there. The Adventure Park in Černá v Pošumaví has a high ropes course.

Windy Point and the landscape around the town

Windy Point is a sandy beach with a cocktail bar on Lake Lipno and offers activities for children. Admission to Windy Point beach is free. This makes it possible to combine time by the water with an outing focused not only on the lake but also on a specific offering for younger visitors.

For routes through the landscape, there is the Jestřábí circuit in the immediate surroundings of Černá v Pošumaví. The Horem Lesem route leads over Mount Lískovec and through Velké Bahno and Novolhotský les. The Velké Bahno area comprises extensive spruce-alder stands in various stages of development, as well as significant flora and vegetation. The Rybářská bašta, with an exhibition about fishing and hunting, is also located in the vicinity of Černá v Pošumaví.

Culture and seasonal events

The local culture includes the statue of Saint John of Nepomuk, which stands next to the western façade of the church. Černá v Pošumaví’s regular annual programme of events also features various seasonal highlights: in February, this includes Masopust. In July and August, the programme includes an open-air cinema with films, fairy tales and concerts.

Winter also has its own events. An ice rink on a frozen body of water is part of Černá v Pošumaví’s January programme, as are ice sailing races. The Yacht Club in Černá v Pošumaví organises competitions for various yacht classes.
