The Staroplzenecká Educational Trail

The Staroplzenecká Educational Trail runs from Starý Plzenec via Sedlec and back and is 10 km long. It begins and ends at the square in Starý Plzenec by the Church of sv. Jana Křtitele. The hike takes about three hours and leads through easy but topographically varied terrain. The approximately three-hour duration and the easy, topographically varied terrain provide a clear framework for planning. In Starý Plzenec, the Church of Narození Panny Marie has rare Gothic frescoes and is an immovable cultural monument. The Romanesque Rotunda of sv. Petra a Pavla is one of the oldest fully preserved sacred buildings of its kind in the Czech Republic. From Malostranské náměstí, it can only be reached on foot via a marked educational trail.

The castle tower of Radyně houses a permanent interactive exhibition about everyday life in a medieval castle and the history of Radyně from its foundation to the present day. The climb up the tower's 114 steps opens up views of Plzeň and the surrounding area. The tower thus forms a clear contrast to the other stops: here, history is explored through an exhibition and a climb, while the view extends out over the surrounding area.
