Kyšice between local history, festivals and cycling route

In Kyšice, a historic building, two annual events, and specific bus and cycling connections come together. The Chapel of St. Lawrence represents the local history, while the traditional Masopust procession and the Historical Afternoon feature in the events calendar. In addition, Cycling Route No. 3 includes a rest area and further signposts within the municipality. Kyšice can therefore be viewed from several different, clearly defined perspectives.

The Chapel of St. Lawrence

The present-day Chapel of St. Lawrence in Kyšice was built in 1829. It is considered Neoclassical and is sometimes also classified as Late Baroque. In terms of local history, a specific year of construction is linked here with an art-historical classification that encompasses two stylistic terms. The building thus provides a fixed historical reference point within the village. Annual events with their own character

A traditional Masopust procession takes place in Kyšice every year. A Historical Afternoon is also held annually. This places two recurring dates with different formats side by side: one is a procession, while the other is an afternoon event. The Masopust procession is part of a traditional custom, whereas the Historical Afternoon constitutes an independent event in the annual calendar. Both events complement the chapel’s enduring local history with recurring occasions that make Kyšice culturally accessible at different times of the year.

Bus routes with different itineraries through Kyšice

IDPK bus route 440253 runs along the Zábělská–Kyšice–Dýšina–Chrást route and back. IDPK bus route 470222 runs along the Plzeň–Kyšice–Rokycany–Strašice–Cheznovice route and back. Kyšice thus appears in two different route sequences. The first line runs via Zábělská, Dýšina and Chrást, while the second connects Plzeň with Kyšice, Rokycany, Strašice and Cheznovice. The differences therefore lie not only in the route numbers, but also in the places that follow one another on each route. This provides two separate bus connections for locating Kyšice within the area.

Cycling Route No. 3 and orientation within the municipality

In 2025, a rest area with a map was established on Cycling Route No. 3 between Kyšice and Červený Hrádek. This section of the cycling route therefore has a specific place with map material. In addition, signposts were installed in the municipality of Kyšice in the vicinity of the cycling route. The two orientation features relate to different areas: the rest area with a map is located on the connection between Kyšice and Červený Hrádek, while the signposts stand near the cycling route within the municipality. Kyšice’s cycling connections thus encompass both a section between two places and directions within the municipal area.
