Discover Radčice: Village Square, Rocks and Forest

Radčice combines a distinctive historic townscape with geological discoveries and walking trails through a varied landscape. This character is particularly evident at Zámeček Radčice, where the Cesta kamene outdoor exhibition uses stone objects to explain how closely human history and the use of mineral resources are connected – especially in art, crafts and construction.

Rocks as a Special Theme for Visitors

Cesta kamene is not merely an outdoor geological exhibition about rocks; it also includes an educational zone with benches, an information board and a signpost. This gives the subject a clear framework for independent exploration. The individual stone objects lead from geological questions to visible traces of human use. For visitors who do not wish to view nature and culture separately, Zámeček thus forms a distinct focal point in Radčice.

Distinctive rock formations can also be encountered beyond this exhibition. Kozí pec is a small rock pyramid in a Carboniferous rock formation. Access to the rock formations in the Čertova kazatelna protected area is prohibited in order to limit erosion and protect the geological features. The two examples represent different forms of experiencing nature: here, rocks can be viewed with explanatory context, while there their protection is made visible through a clear access rule.

Walking Trails with Specific Stops

The green-marked walking trail to Radčice is enhanced by the picturesque Viktorka Spring, passes the Kozí pec rock formation and also leads past the Panny Marie Pomocné Chapel. Those looking for a route with several different impressions will find a spring, a geological formation and a sacred site one after another here. Studánka Viktorka was restored in 2013 at the site of the original spring.

Another trail connects Malesice and Radčice. Along this route there are two rest areas with benches and a bicycle rack for six bicycles. This equipment serves as a concrete point of orientation for an excursion without restricting the trail to any particular mode of transport.

Village Square, Chapels and Historical Traces

The centre of Radčice’s protected heritage zone is formed by a small triangular village square. It is enclosed by predominantly large farmsteads, with a village chapel in the middle. A considerable part of the historic building stock dates from the 1830s. An oak trunk has been incorporated into the Panny Marie Matky Boží milosti Chapel – an unusual detail that adds an additional material and symbolic layer to the townscape.

The history of the village also includes two very different sacred points of reference. The pilgrimage chapel of Panny Marie Matky Boží milosti stands in the Kyjovský les forest in Radčice. The cemetery chapel in Radčice contains a bell that, after being recovered from the water in October 1945, was hung back in the small tower and remains there to this day. In this way, history becomes tangible not only through buildings but also through preserved individual objects.
