Pnovany is a destination for travelers who want to combine historic sites with experiences in nature. St. Anne's Chapel and the Chateau

The Chapel of St. Anne Samotřetí in Pňovany has existed since the Gothic period. St. Anne's Chapel is a filial church of the Nýřany parish and was reopened and solemnly consecrated on October 19, 2019, after 14 years of restoration work. The St. Anne pilgrimage is also one of the traditional events in Pňovany. This means that, alongside the historic building, a religious tradition is also central when you want to get to know the area culturally.

The sights of Pňovany also include a Baroque chateau dating from the mid-18th century. The chateau was declared a cultural monument in 1958 and 1964, respectively. The differing years remain part of its documented classification and make clear that the itinerary includes not just a single building, but a historically protected site.

The Pňovany Bridge over the Dam

The Pňovany Bridge is a railway bridge over the Hracholusky Dam on the line from Pňovany to Bezdružice. Construction began in 1899 and was fully completed in 1901. When the valley was flooded by the Hracholusky Dam in 1963, the height of the Pňovany Bridge was reduced to 37 meters. The bridge thus combines railway history with the landscape transformed by the creation of the reservoir.

Forest Trails and Historical Traces

The forest educational trail is 7.4 km long and provides a clear basis for planning a day in the countryside. Another historic site is the Jewish cemetery in Pňovany, which is protected as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic. It lies in a forest south of Pňovany, beyond the Hracholuský Stream. The ruins of Buben Castle are freely accessible and add a place to the selection where history can be experienced directly in a preserved ruin.

Hiking, Cycling and Boat Trips

The area around the Hracholusky Dam is frequently used for hiking and cycling. Boat trips are also offered there. The Hracholusky Dam can be reached via Pňovany railway station; from there, you can continue on foot or by bicycle.
