The State Castle of Nebílovy

The main cultural attraction is the State Castle of Nebílovy. The High Baroque building was constructed at the beginning of the 18th century in the form of a Viennese palace. Its architectural layout differs significantly from that of an ordinary castle: the complex consists of two horseshoe-shaped buildings facing each other along the longitudinal axis of the courtyard.

The interiors also deserve a closer look. They are decorated with wall paintings by Antonín Tuvora. Anyone interested in historic rooms, Baroque design, and the connection between architectural form and furnishings will therefore find several layers to explore at the castle, rather than just a single sight.

The Tuwora Gallery presents another cultural facet. It combines Baroque character with modern art. The gallery regularly hosts exhibitions, adding a contemporary accent to the castle’s historic interiors. Another historical detail can be found at the “Nejsvětější Trojice” station. A stone obelisk commemorating the land redivision of 1924 stands there. Such smaller testimonies add a specific reference to the history of the town and its landscape.

The “Naučná stezka Nebílovy” educational trail is a 5.7 km circular route. It offers an independent way to experience Nebílovy with more activity and to complement a cultural visit with a signposted circuit. The contrast between the focused exploration of the castle, interiors, and gallery and the transition to a longer outdoor route is particularly interesting.

Nebílovy can also be reached by bicycle: cycling route No. 2126 leads to Nebílovy from Černice in Plzeň. By bus, the town can be reached from the main railway station terminal in about 40 minutes. This time indication should be understood as an approximate value. Those arriving by car will find a large parking area for several dozen cars on the outskirts of Nebílovy in the direction of Plzeň.
