Louňová – Cycling Route, Nature and Local History

Louňová combines active exploration with a landscape whose distinctive features can be seen directly in the village and its cadastral area. A cycling route, an outdoor swimming pool and other sports facilities offer various ways to spend your free time. At the same time, a chapel, historic farmsteads and the abandoned settlement of Vrtěšice tell the story of the village. Cycling Route and Leisure in Louňová

The 9 km-long Cycling Route 2149 offers a specific option for active days. It runs through Železný Újezd, Louňová and Žďár. The route therefore passes through several places and makes Louňová part of a larger cycling experience, without limiting the route to the village itself. Louňová also offers an outdoor swimming pool and other sports facilities for spending your free time. This makes it possible to combine and compare a cycling trip with leisure facilities in the village within a compact thematic area.

The Přešínský Stream and Its Nature

The Přešínský Stream flows through the central part of Louňová from east to west. A narrow line of alder trees follows its course. Below the outdoor swimming pool, it expands into a beautiful alder swamp forest; ash trees also grow on the left bank. This precise sequence makes the stream course a clearly distinguishable landscape feature: the narrow woody structure is followed below the outdoor swimming pool by a significantly broader wet woodland area.

The area is also notable for visitors interested in natural history. There is a stable population of noble crayfish in the Přešínský Stream area. The age structure indicates regular and successful reproduction. Thus, alongside the visible vegetation, a documented animal population also forms part of the character of this landscape area.

Chapel and Historic Settlement Structure

The Chapel of St. Anne in Louňová belongs to the Roman Catholic parish of Blovice. A pilgrimage mass in honour of St. Anne was announced at the chapel for 30 July 2023. This date is in the past and refers to an announcement made at that time, not to a current event date.

The characteristic historic settlement form of Louňová includes farmsteads with a residential section facing the public space and an agricultural section arranged around the courtyard. The two areas show how living and agricultural activities were spatially organised within a farmstead. Farmsteads whose original form has been preserved are considered the most valuable element of Louňová’s settlement structure. For a walk through the village, therefore, not only an individual building is of interest, but also the relationship between the public-facing side and the inner courtyard area.

Vrtěšice and Archaeological Traces

The abandoned settlement of Vrtěšice lies in the southern part of Louňová’s cadastral area. There is a later-period pagan burial mound field there. Iron predominates among the finds. The area is classified as an archaeological site in category ÚAN I. Vrtěšice thus complements Louňová’s preserved settlement structure with a place where history has been passed down in the form of an abandoned settlement and archaeological traces.
