Discover Němčovice

Němčovice is located in Horní Berounka Nature Park and combines protected landscapes, unusual excursion destinations and traces of older history. Landscape along the Horní Berounka

The municipality lies in an area bordering the Křivoklátsko Protected Landscape Area and the northern edge of the Brdy Mountains. The Olešenský stream provides a specific connection to the landscape. The small stream is a right-bank tributary of the Berounka and is also located in Horní Berounka Nature Park. Below the village of Olešná, it forms a wooded valley up to 60 meters deep. The area around the Olešenský stream is home to, among other species, fire salamanders, yellow-bellied toads, slow worms and eagle owls. Those who would like to combine nature observation with a more active undertaking can cycle along the Údolí mloků educational trail. The reference to the species found there also makes the natural area interesting for families who want to discover specific animals and habitats along the way, without limiting their stay to a single excursion destination.

A bus stop with its own history

One of the most unusual sights in Němčovice is Pařezová chaloupka, a bus stop on Class II road II/232 between Rokycany and Kralovice, inspired by the 1968 animated series Pohádky z mechu a kapradí. Pařezová chaloupka was ceremonially opened on June 2, 2019. Fifty-one years lie between 1968 and the ceremonial opening in 2019. The Němčovice, Pařezová bus stop was entered into the Czech Database of Records on January 22, 2024. This gives the locality a striking point of interest whose special character lies not in a large complex, but in its design and its connection to a well-known Czech animated series. For you, this stop can therefore be a discovery in its own right, especially if you are looking for unusual details along the way with children.

Castle ruins and a Baroque motif

The cultural attractions in and around Němčovice also offer different points of emphasis. Hradiště Radná has a fortified total area of 4.5 hectares and includes several ramparts as well as an outer bailey. Its dimensions and preserved layout make the site an example of how historical fortifications differ from later structures. The Sloup se sochou Ecce Homo offers a different perspective. The column dates from 1722 and depicts the biblical Ecce Homo motif. The restored original Ecce Homo statue is kept in a chapel. This chapel is open to the public during the summer tourist season.
