Letkov – Aviation and Village Culture

Letkov combines village culture with an unusually strong aviation character. Its main highlights are the village square with the Chapel of St. Gothard and the war memorial, as well as Letkov Airport with the Plzeň-Letkov Aeroclub. Flying Experiences at Letkov Airport

The Plzeň-Letkov Aeroclub offers training to become a pilot of ultralight aircraft. Practical training takes place in a two-seat WT-9 Dynamic. Those interested in gliding can obtain a glider pilot licence at the aeroclub from the age of 15. These two training paths represent different forms of flying: one involves powered ultralight aircraft, while the other involves obtaining a glider pilot licence.

However, a visit does not have to be connected with training. Interested visitors can tour the Plzeň-Letkov Aeroclub and, accompanied by an experienced flight instructor, try flying in one of the aircraft. This gives visitors staying in Letkov a clear choice between a more observational visit and an experience in which they can discover flying for themselves. The aerobatic Radyňský looping is also associated with the Plzeň-Letkov Aeroclub and adds a sporting and aerobatic aspect to the village’s aviation character.

Village Square, Chapel, and Memorial Sites

In the centre of Letkov, on the village square, stands the Chapel of St. Gothard. It has a bell tower, making it a clearly recognisable cultural landmark of the village. A war memorial commemorating local victims of the First and Second World Wars also stands on the village square.
