Chotíkov combines traces of a long local history with outdoor experiences. Historical traces around the church

Chotíkov’s history dates back at least to the Middle Ages. The first surviving document about the village is a Latin charter dated 25 June 1344. A parish church already existed in Chotíkov in 1352. The present Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross was newly built in 1834–1835 on the site of its predecessor, which had been closed in 1828. Those interested in regional history can therefore read several historical layers of the village in this building: the medieval reference, the earlier church and the later new construction.

A more recent event has also become part of the village landscape. A faithful copy of the statue of Saint John of Nepomuk was reinstalled on 1 July 2026 at its original location in Poplužní Dvůr in Chotíkov. The specific site thus combines an inherited religious motif with a current reinstallation.

An educational trail about bees and a protected area

The Včelí stezka educational trail begins at the fire station. Through tasks, it playfully conveys the importance of bees for nature and for people. If you are travelling with children, this format offers a different approach than simply sightseeing: the topic is explored through observing and solving tasks together, without requiring extensive prior knowledge.

The Petrovka protected area attracts visitors for walks and sporting activities. Alongside the historical stops, it provides a natural destination where physical activity takes centre stage. The combination of the educational trail and the protected area allows you to combine different ideas for a day without losing sight of the village’s historic sites.

On foot or by bicycle across the Svatojakubská footbridge

The Svatojakubská footbridge has a special function: It restores a crossing of the busy I/20 road for pedestrians and cyclists. At the same time, it is part of the tourist Svatojakubská cesta, the Camino de Santiago, which leads to the tomb of Saint James the Elder in the cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in the Spanish region of Galicia. For planning your trip, it is therefore clear that the bridge serves both as a local crossing and as an element of a far-reaching pilgrimage route.

A cultural event in September 2026

From 17 to 20 September 2026, the Dožínková pouť will take place in Chotíkov with an extensive cultural programme. The event provides a seasonal highlight and complements the permanently available historical and scenic attractions with a cultural event scheduled for a specific period.
