Vranová Lhota – Forest, Culture and Cycling Route

Vranová Lhota combines extensive woodland with a vivid local history and several different types of excursion. The town lies amid the extensive forests of the Bohdalov-Hartinkov Nature Park. This gives you a destination where you can choose how much emphasis to place on culture, cycling, travelling along the Třebůvka and exploring the landscape.

Forests and elevations around Vranová Lhota

The immediate surroundings include the hill (Zbytky[Hartinkov]) and Husák as a mountain. Skalka and Roh lie in the wider regional area. This gives you a geographical gradation for exploring the landscape: destinations close to Vranová Lhota can be combined with the town centre, while the two more distant mountains broaden your view of the regional surroundings. You can thus explore the nature park with a focus on places near the town or with a more wide-ranging excursion in mind.

Festivals, Churches and Regional History

Vranová Lhota Fortress was converted into a Renaissance château in 1698. The Church of Saint Catherine is a High Baroque building completed in 1792. In Vranová, a district of Vranová Lhota, the Chapel of Saint Roch stands in the village square. It still serves as a bell tower; during its reconstruction in 2018, its roof was restored to its original form. The château, church and chapel thus represent different historical forms: a Renaissance conversion, a High Baroque church building and a bell tower that has survived to the present day.

The wider regional area also contains cultural and historical destinations: Hrad Brníčko is a castle there, while Pomník obětem 1. a 2. světové války is a memorial. The churches Kaple Panny Marie Lurdské and Kaple Panny Marie are also located in the surroundings of Vranová Lhota. The destinations therefore range from buildings in Vranová Lhota and Vranová to a castle and a memorial in the wider regional area. This makes it possible to shape a stay around both local architectural history and regional places of remembrance without conflating the themes.

Cycling Route, Třebůvka and Visiting Options

Regional cycling route No. 512 passes through Vranová Lhota and forms part of the Jeseník–Znojmo long-distance cycle route. Anyone wishing to combine the town with a longer cycle tour can link the route through Vranová Lhota with the course of a long-distance cycle route. Vranová Lhota is also a usual starting or finishing point for travelling along the Třebůvka. The cycle tour and the journey on the river thus represent two different ways of actively experiencing the surroundings: one along a long-distance cycling connection and the other on the water.

It was possible to visit Tvrz Vranová Lhota during the visiting season when the owner was present. A photo exhibition was on display in the main hall in summer. For orientation on arrival, Vranová Lhota has the bus stop “Vranová Lhota,,ObÚ”. When choosing your accommodation, you can therefore first decide whether to focus on local history, the cycling route, the natural environment or the Třebůvka.
