Přívrat – Ridge, Ponds and Experiences in the Czech Republic

Přívrat is located in the upper areas of the “Kozlovský hřbet” ridge, near the pass over which the road from Litomyšl to Česká Třebová runs. The village thus combines a distinctive elevation with forest, ponds, culture and various opportunities for active days. If you are looking for accommodation in Přívrat, you can plan your stay around whether you want to focus on trails through the landscape, local history, musical traditions or winter activities.

Forest Landscape and Five Ponds

The Zacharovce forest area lies in the northern part of Přívrat. Continuous strips of forest run along the edge of Přívrat’s cadastral area. The local landscape also includes five ponds: Dolní Přívratský rybník, Trucovný rybník, Prostřední rybník, Komárek and Horní rybník.

Culture Between a Monument, a Church and Music

One of the village’s distinctive details is a cast-iron cross near house no. 48. It is registered in Přívrat as an immovable cultural monument and was restored in 2005. The monument to Karel Kovařovic commemorates the composer’s stay in Přívrat: in 1896, he composed the opera Psohlavci here. Přívrat is also home to the Church of St. Francis Xavier.

The history of music also reaches into the present-day local cultural life. The international Antonín Bennewitz Music Festival has borne his name since 1999 and also includes a concert in Přívrat. Antonín Bennewitz was born in Přívrat. For a stay focused on regional culture, this creates several different points of interest: a restored monument, a church, the memory of a composer and a festival with a concert in the village.

Tradition, Taste and Activities

Přívratské Vinobraní dates back to a local tradition from the 1930s and was revived in 1987. Přívratské Vinobraní offers, among other things, wine, Burčák and traditional potato pancakes. The event thus combines a specific local history with typical food and drinks.

Marked hiking trails are available for outdoor activities, connecting Přívrat with the surrounding towns. In winter, these marked trails around Přívrat can be used for cross-country skiing. At SKI AREÁL Přívrat, the public ski lifts operate daily from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. during the winter months, provided there is sufficient snow cover. The area has downhill slopes intended for alpine skiing and snowboarding. In addition, children and adults can try a bungee trampoline attraction at PINGUin park.
