Trpík: Chapel, Local History and Forests

One historical point of reference in the village is the Baroque Chapel of St. Anne. It dates from 1763 and was consecrated in 1776. At the same time, its currently documented condition is part of the local history: the chapel has no longer served its purpose for a considerable time. Nevertheless, its precise location makes it a distinctive landmark for exploring Trpík. The freestanding chapel stands below the embankment of the railway line at a crossroads by a viaduct between three lime trees. The year 1875 is engraved in the apex of the stone doorframe.

The two crosses point to different forms of religious remembrance and should not be treated as a single monument when viewed together.

The school building is also part of Trpík’s documented architectural history. It was built between 1867 and 1872. The school building complements the sacred structures with a secular building from the 19th century; its construction period falls after that of the chapel and the stone cross. Together with the chapel, the crosses and the early documented mention, this creates a village landscape in which medieval tradition, Baroque religious history and 19th-century buildings complement one another.
