Discover Horní Lipka
Horní Lipka appeals to visitors who do not want to view landscape and history separately. The district and its wider surroundings are characterized by a high proportion of preserved permanent grassland and adjoining extensive forest areas. The Lipkovský potok stream flows east of the area in question; it drains the Horní Lipka area and belongs to the Morava river basin. The Králický Sněžník Nature Park is also located in the Horní Lipka area. When choosing your accommodation, you can therefore first decide whether landscapes and trails or cultural and historical sites are more important to you. The combination of open spaces, forests, and cultural history allows you to give different weight to nature experiences, physical activity, and historical impressions depending on the type of travel day you want.
Landscape, Trails, and Regional Orientation
Two routes are relevant for orientation and day planning. A red-marked hiking trail runs between Heřmanice and Horní Lipka and then continues toward Prostřední Lipka. Regional cycling route 4068 runs between Dolní Lipka, Prostřední Lipka, and Horní Lipka. The different routes help you distinguish between a hiking connection and a regional cycling route when planning, without equating the two routes. This leaves a specific difference for day planning: the hiking trail is oriented toward Heřmanice and Prostřední Lipka, while the cycling route follows the connection via Dolní, Prostřední, and Horní Lipka.
St. Anne’s Church and Historical Traces
Today’s St. Anne’s Church in Horní Lipka stands on the site of a stone chapel dedicated to Saint Barbara, the virgin and martyr, dating from 1768. Its current Neoclassical appearance probably dates from 1818. On May 26, 1923, the tower of St. Anne’s Church burned out after being struck by lightning; during reconstruction, the original onion dome was replaced with a pyramid-shaped tower. The building’s history combines several periods in one place: from the chapel through the Neoclassical form to the alteration of the tower.
The historic surroundings include a cemetery cross in the middle of the cemetery that formerly adjoined the church, as well as removed gravestones along the southern wall of the church, which now mark the former cemetery. A fragment of the original monument is also located in the cemetery of Horní Lipka. An old trade route to Kladsko once passed through Horní Lipka. The historic surroundings of the church therefore include both the former cemetery and visible surviving fragments.
Fortification History around K-S 8 and K-S 9
The K-S 8 Museum presents exhibitions on Czechoslovak fortifications, the Carpathian-Dukla Operation, the underground Richard factory, and the Litoměřice concentration camp. The K-S 8 “U nádraží” infantry bunker is located 50 meters from the Červený Potok railway station. The K-S 9 “Mezi lesíky” infantry bunker directly adjoins the Hůrka artillery fortress. It was built in 1936 as the first fortification structure in the Králicko area and was severely damaged by intense shelling during the occupation. The proximity of K-S 9 and Hůrka establishes a specific connection between two fortification structures.
