Dolní Dobrouč is a destination for travellers who want to combine cultural discoveries with exercise and sporting experiences. In Dolní Dobrouč and the village of Horní Dobrouč, you will encounter sacred buildings from different periods; Lanšperk Castle and a marked hiking route add a historical excursion through forest paths. This gives you a varied choice for planning your trip, ranging from churches, chapels and castle history to hiking, golf and tennis.

The Church of St Nicholas was built in 1828–1829 in the Empire style. A special visiting option is provided by the entrance, which is separated from the nave by a decorative grille: the church can be visited through it at any time of day. The building thus combines a clearly dated origin with access that is not tied to a specific visiting time.

A different atmosphere awaits you at Horákova Chapel. It is a pilgrimage site on the edge of the forest above Dolní Dobrouč and is dedicated to the Virgin Mary, Mother of Perpetual Help. Its location on the edge of the forest clearly distinguishes it from the churches in the village and combines religious history with surroundings that can be incorporated into a walk. Above the village and at the forest edge, this creates a different spatial setting from that of the sacred buildings within the built-up areas.

You will find further historical traces in the village of Horní Dobrouč. The Baroque Church of St John the Baptist, dating from 1770, stands there. It was built on the site of an older wooden church mentioned in 1677. The cemetery chapel of St Joseph is also part of the village’s history. It preserves the presbytery of a former Gothic church from the 15th century; presbytery here refers to the chancel area of a church. The preserved chancel thus points to the earlier church and adds an older historical layer to the village’s Baroque architectural history.

Lanšperk Castle and the Hiking Trail to Dolní Dobrouč

Lanšperk Castle was built in the second half of the 13th century. It adds a secular building from the second half of the 13th century to this sequence. Today, part of the curtain wall and the cellars of the palas adjoining this wall remain from the complex. Those who want to experience historical buildings not only individually but also together with a walking route can consider the hiking trail from Lanšperk to Dolní Dobrouč. It follows green, blue and red hiking trail markings, leads through forest paths and then descends to Dolní Dobrouč. The preserved castle sections are thus placed in a spatial context with the forest paths and the subsequent descent into the village.

Golf and Tennis as Sporting Additions

Golf Dobrouč is a natural, fully irrigated golf course on picturesque hills in the foothills of the Orlické Mountains. In Dolní Dobrouč, the tennis facility has three tennis courts and a practice wall. The two sporting options therefore clearly differ in their surroundings and design: golf is associated with the hilly landscape of the foothills, while tennis is linked to a facility in the village with its three courts and practice wall. When planning your days, you can thus alternate between a round of golf, tennis, a hike and visits to sites of cultural and historical interest without removing the sacred sights from your itinerary.
