Sudslava: Church, Cultural Monument and Cycling Route

Sudslava combines remarkable cultural history with a cycling route, a publicly accessible cultural monument and summer opportunities by the water. Church with late Baroque design

The Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord in Sudslava is documented as a parish church as early as 1350. The building that characterizes the village today dates from 1772 and was designed in the late Baroque style. More than four centuries of local history lie between the first record of the parish church and the construction of 1772. Particularly characteristic are the rich sculptural stonework and ornamentation. Thus, a church building stands at the center of Sudslava where both the village's long ecclesiastical history and the formal language of the late Baroque can be seen. In front of the former parish house stands a renovated Baroque statue of Saint John of Nepomuk. The Baroque statue complements the church building with an independent work of art in the surroundings of the former parish house. The grounds of the former parish house are accessible to the public as a cultural monument and are used for an exhibition. Cycling and summer landscapes

The Vysoké Mýto–Sudslava cycling route follows Cycling Route 4230 and is 23 km long. It is considered a moderately difficult route for road bikes, trekking bikes and mountain bikes. The route is therefore not limited to a single type of bicycle and provides its own active focus alongside the cultural and historical attractions. Sudslava also has a water reservoir where swimming is possible in summer. The opportunity to swim is explicitly limited to the summer.
