Hnátnice

If you are looking for a Czech locality with a clearly recognizable landscape and a concentrated sacred history, Hnátnice offers several distinctive points of interest. The municipality lies in the Žamberecká pahorkatina and is characterized as a large forest-strip settlement extending along both banks of the Hnátnický potok. Landscape and townscape

The Žamberecká pahorkatina defines the landscape surrounding Hnátnice. Skalka provides a clear geographical reference point: at 447 m, it is the highest point in Hnátnice. Together with the elongated settlement form along the Hnátnický potok, this creates a townscape in which the landscape is closely connected with the spatial form of the locality.

Church, statues and historical evidence

The Church of St. Peter and Paul is a central feature of the locality's history. It was originally built as a Gothic structure in the second half of the 14th century. It was rebuilt in the mid-19th century, and the tower was added during this reconstruction. At the church and in its immediate surroundings, you will encounter several independent works of art from different periods.

Next to St. Peter and Paul stands a statue of Saint John of Nepomuk dating from 1732. A Calvary group from 1835 is also located beside the church. There are also 19th-century statues of Saints Peter and Paul on the steps leading to the church. This ensemble is complemented by a group of figures depicting the Holy Trinity from the early 19th century, which was restored in 1885. The dates show that the religious design of the locality developed over several generations, without the individual features all belonging to a single construction phase.

The Hnátnice Rosary Way

Another distinctive feature is the Rosary Way. It was created in the 19th century and comprises fifteen stations corresponding to the mysteries of the three Rosaries. The way therefore has a clearly structured religious theme and differs from an ordinary walking route through its prescribed sequence of stations. The Rosary Way is considered the only pilgrimage way in the Czech Republic to encompass all the mysteries of the Rosary known at the time of its creation. For travelers interested in culture, it is therefore an independent part of the locality's history, not merely an addition to a church visit.

Cycle path with several local connections

The Valdštejn–Šušek cycle path connects Písečná and Hnátnice. It also connects the shore of the pond in Šušek with a local road in Hnátnice-Valdštejn. The route therefore includes several clearly defined local connections: Písečná, Šušek, Hnátnice and Hnátnice-Valdštejn.
