Červená Voda between Mountain Scenery and Local History

Červená Voda combines striking landscape experiences with readily accessible local history. To the east of the town, Křížová hora rises to 735 metres above sea level as a peak of the Jeřábská vrchovina highlands. There is also an observation tower, nature trails, winter sports facilities and several cultural attractions. This creates a destination where observing nature, physical activity and historical discoveries can be combined.

Hiking to Křížová hora

The observation tower on Křížová hora has a viewing platform 25 metres above the ground. From there, the view extends across a large part of the Kladská Basin. The tower can be reached from the centre of Červená Voda via a yellow-marked ridge trail. The access trail is bordered by the Mokřiny nature reserve below the mountain, giving the hike a clear connection to the landscape.

Another way to explore the surroundings of Křížová hora is provided by the Křížová hora nature trail. It is approximately 3 kilometres long and provides information about local history and nature at five stations. The approximate length helps with planning, while the stations give the route a thematic structure. The Hraběcí nature trail is associated with a fairy tale; wooden sculptures of animals by Mr Bubák stand at several points. The trails therefore range from information about local history and nature to a fairy-tale story featuring wooden animal figures.

Ski Park and Cycle Path

The sporting profile of Červená Voda includes the Červená Voda Ski Park in the Mlýnický Dvůr district. The ski park has a 2,150-metre-long downhill run and a heated four-seat chairlift. Alongside the hiking trails, this provides a clear focus on winter sports. For a different form of travel, the Červená Voda–Králíky cycle path is available; it is 3,960 metres long.

Museum, Church and Cultural Monument

The Červenovodské Museum of Memories and Nature is located on the first floor of the building and can be reached by lift. In terms of content, it complements the trails through the landscape with a look at the memories and nature of the town. Červená Voda is also home to St. Matthew’s Church, an early Baroque church built between 1683 and 1686.

In Šanov, Červená Voda, there is a sculpture group of the Holy Trinity. It has been protected as a cultural monument since 11 August 2020. Together with St. Matthew’s Church, it provides a historical focus that clearly differs from the observation tower, nature reserve and nature trails.
