Zbudov – Hiking and Cycling around Zemská brána

Zbudov reveals its special location above all where paths, woodland and waterscapes meet. At the “Zbudov, Samoty” hiking signpost, marked trails begin in four directions. The signpost is located at the edge of the forest above the Pastviny Reservoir, making it a clear starting point for exploring the area. Hiking along the forest edge and across the hills

From the “Zbudov, Samoty” signpost, a red-marked trail leads downhill past the church to Klášterec nad Orlicí. A longer circular tour can begin in Zbudov and return to Zbudov via a cycle path. This described circular tour includes an ascent of more than 300 metres. This clearly distinguishes it from simply finding your way at the starting point: it connects the start in Zbudov with a longer loop and a noticeable difference in elevation.

Zbudov also lies within the Žamberk–Králíky CHOPAV protected water-management area. Nearby is the protected rocky stretch of Zemská brána on the Divoká Orlice, close to the Pastviny Reservoir and Klášterec nad Orlicí. The forest, rock formations and the valley of the Divoká Orlice are therefore among the defining landscape features around the village.

Two moderately difficult cycling routes starting in Zbudov

For cyclists, two differently marked routes with an information board begin in Zbudov. The red “Kunvaldská” cycle route leads through the Zemská brána area and its surroundings. It is classified as moderately difficult and has an estimated riding time of 1.5 hours without breaks. The light-blue “Zaberská” cycle route also passes through the Zemská brána area and its surroundings; it likewise has a starting point with an information board in Zbudov. It is also moderately difficult, but its estimated riding time without breaks is two hours. The difference in duration offers a clear way to choose between the two routes without confusing their difficulty rating.

Another route is called “From Klášterec nad Orlicí via Potoky and Amerika and back again” and begins in the Zbudov district of Klášterec nad Orlicí. It follows the Černý potok, whose banks are lined with wooded rocks, and joins the blue-marked trail from Zemská brána. The route runs through a valley protected on three sides by slopes and forest, with the Černý potok flowing through it. This route thus complements the two moderately difficult circular rides with a particularly detailed section along the stream.

A protected house in the village

In addition to the trails and landscape features, Zbudov is also home to the protected rural house No. 13. It complements the natural surroundings with a tangible example of local architectural history and gives the village another established point of interest alongside the routes.
