Kamenicky between Art History and Landscape

Church, Stations of the Cross and Artists’ Memorial

The Baroque Church of the Holy Trinity in Kameničky was built in 1764–1766 on the site of an older wooden church. A Stations of the Cross is located next to the Church of the Holy Trinity. It was created in 2017 based on an architectural design by Tereza Šmídová; the artistic design was created by artistic blacksmith Pavel Tasovský. The history of the church can be combined there with the adjacent Stations of the Cross without leaving the town’s religious focus.

The Antonín Slavíček Gallery displays stage sets that Antonín Slavíček and Bohuslav Dvořák painted in 1904 for the local theater association. Antonín Slavíček stayed in Kameničky at Slavíčkův domek and created the famous painting “U nás v Kameničkách” there. The memorial plaque at Slavíčkův domek was unveiled on June 18, 1961. Thus, in addition to architectural history, painting, theater history and commemorative culture are also part of the townscape. Slavíčkův domek brings together a stay, a work of art and remembrance in one place.

This historic picture is complemented by two statues of saints: Kameničky is home to a statue of Saint John dating from 1723, as well as a statue of Saint Florian dating from 1779. Thus, the townscape presents sacred points of reference from several centuries.

Protected Landscape and Trails

Vojtěchův Kopec is 673 m high and is one of the highest locations in the Chrudimsko region. In the painting tradition, it is also known as Volákův kopec. The purpose of the Volákův kopec Nature Reserve is to protect a botanical site and the occurrence of black grouse. The name of the hill also connects the landscape with the painting tradition.
