Vojtěchov

Vojtěchov combines landscape, views and an unusually tangible local history. The village lies in the foothills of the Žďárské vrchy at an elevation of 528 metres. The part located south of the I/34 road particularly shapes the landscape: it belongs to the Žďárské vrchy Protected Landscape Area and is predominantly covered by forests. Agricultural land and meadows are less common there. If you are looking for accommodation, you can therefore first consider whether nature, cycling, views or historical discoveries should be the main focus of your trip.

Forests, Protected Landscape Area and Cycle Route

The protected landscape gives Vojtěchov a distinct natural character. The combination of forests, meadows and agricultural land can be incorporated into a trip in which not just one individual point of interest, but the landscape itself, plays a role. The village is also a specific reference point for cyclists: Cycle Route 4122 passes through Vojtěchov. This provides a separate active focus for trip planning, without deriving any information about the route’s length, gradient or difficulty.

Traces from the Middle Ages to Industrial History

Vojtěchov was established in the second half of the 13th century during the reign of Přemysl Otakar II and his son Václav II. The first written record dates from 1392. Another historical site is the Protestant cemetery, which was established at the beginning of the 19th century and is still in use. In the Pláňavy area, traces of charcoal-burning sites have also been preserved in connection with historical ironworking. These sites represent the former production of charcoal and make it clear that the region’s history has been passed down not only in dates, but also in the remnants of earlier work.

Lookout Tower with Far-Reaching Views

The Vojtěchovská rozhledna lookout tower opened near Vojtěchov in July 2010. In clear weather, Kunětická hora, Sněžka and Kralický Sněžník can be seen from its observation tower. The published opening hours are essential for planning a visit: in April, May and June, as well as in September and October, the tower is open on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. In July and August, it is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Outside these periods, a visit should not simply be assumed to be possible.

Local Event and Moravian Specialities

The cultural calendar includes Vojtěchovské vinobraní VIII. The event was announced for 5 September 2026 from 5 p.m. at the Pod Kovárnou wine shop. The programme was to include music and dancing; Frída Orator and the band Bipolární tranzistor were scheduled to perform. Burčák, grilled pork knuckles, potato pancakes, homemade cakes and a large selection of Moravian spirits were to be offered. For your trip planning, this event should be understood as a time-specific occasion, not as a general daily offering in the village.
