Historical traces in Horní Holetín

A historic road linking East Bohemia with Moravia ran through Horní Holetín. Records from 1144, 1242 and 1329 document this historic road.

Another prominent landmark is the Chapel of St John the Baptist. It was built in 1891–1892 and solemnly consecrated on 25 June 1893. The construction and consecration period gives the building a clearly defined history of origin. At the same time, the chapel is not merely a historic structure: Masses are held there on the first Sunday of every month. For your stay, this provides a recurring religious connection that also makes the place interesting from a cultural perspective.

Cycling and active days

The marked Cycle Route 18, which is of regional significance, runs through the municipality of Holetín. It follows the Hlinsko–Holetín–Raná–Skuteč route. Holetín lies between Hlinsko and Raná, with Skuteč continuing the route. For cycle tourists, the specific route is therefore important: it places Holetín on a connection between several towns and can be incorporated into a tour along this corridor. Route 18 and the sports complex have different focuses: the route connects four towns in a fixed sequence, while the complex includes a football pitch and an outdoor pool.

The Holetín sports complex also offers various opportunities for an active stay. It has a football pitch with changing rooms and showers. The sports complex also contains an uncovered outdoor pool with natural water. The pool measures 25 × 12.5 m. For families with different interests, this combination can make it easier to choose between sport and spending time by the water, without requiring any particular type of use.

Bus connections and seasonal events

There are two stops for getting around locally. IREDO bus routes 702 and 777 serve the “Horní Holetín – železniční zastávka” stop. IREDO bus route 777 also stops at “Horní Holetín – křižovatka”. The first stop is served by both routes, while the second is served by route 777. For travel with IREDO, the route assignment is therefore clear: the “železniční zastávka” is served by 702 and 777, while the “křižovatka” is served exclusively by 777.

The municipality of Holetín organizes children’s events every summer, including Holetínský Nebojsa. As a past example, the third edition of the “Maškarní tancovačka” took place on 21 March 2026 from 8:00 p.m. at the Kulturní centrum Holetín. This date is in the past and therefore primarily provides a specific insight into local cultural life, rather than indicating a future event date. The March date falls outside the summer period of the children’s events held annually.
