Tršice between Castle, Church and Water

Tršice combines historic buildings, an educational trail and waterscapes into several clearly distinguishable ways of exploring the area. At the center is Tršický Castle: the two-storey building with three wings encloses a small courtyard. Its history can be read in its architecture: in 1532, the building was extensively converted into a Renaissance castle; during this process, the two southern palaces were joined into a single wing. On the south side there is a moat, crossed by a bridge leading to a late Gothic entrance portal. As a result, the historical impact is not concentrated on a single structural element, but on the interplay of the wings, courtyard, moat and entrance. The Tršice Museum is located in three rooms on the ground floor of Tršický Castle. Anyone interested in local history and architectural forms will find castle architecture and a museum at the same historic site.

The Parish Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary is also part of the townscape. It is a landmark in the center of Tršice. The Neo-Baroque church was built largely through volunteer labor within a single year. In the town center, it complements the castle's history with a building whose own creation becomes part of the historical subject of the townscape. The church thus provides an independent focal point for anyone who, when taking a walk, wishes to pay attention not only to architectural forms but also to the history of the creation of a sacred building.

Reservoir, Waterfall and Trails

The landscape can be experienced at the Tršice Reservoir. It lies in the Olešnice Valley and covers twelve hectares. Tršice is also home to Tršický Waterfall, an approximately three-metre-high cataract in the Tršická pahorkatina, the southernmost part of the Nízký Jeseník. The waterfall is located directly in Tršice below the local fortress and carries water from the overflow of Zámecký rybník. Its location connects the waterscape with the fortress's historical setting. This creates an alternation in the perception of the area between the twelve-hectare reservoir in the valley and the approximately three-metre-high cataract below the fortress.

A path leads from the local fortress through the former castle park to the pond shore and provides access to Tršický Waterfall. The route connects several landscape elements: the starting point is the fortress, followed by the former park, the pond shore and the waterfall. For a walk, this sequence is easy to follow because each section offers its own point of reference. For another way of exploring the area, the Otty Wolf Educational Trail is available. The approximately five-kilometre-long, physically easy circular route leads around Tršice and is marked with five information boards. Its stops include the Wolf family's forest hideout and an information board at the memorial to the victims of the Nazi destruction of Zákřov. The approximate length helps assess the time required, while the boards divide the route into individual thematic stops. The circuit can therefore be experienced as a continuous movement around Tršice or as a sequence of historical stopping points.

At the Tršice Reservoir, sport anglers fish for carp, grass carp, perch, pike and zander. Fishing thus offers an independent way to spend time by the water. When planning a stay, the reservoir can therefore be considered either as a landscape destination or as a fishing water. The combination of the castle, church, circular trail, waterfall and reservoir makes it possible to clearly set the focus of a day between local history, activity and water.
