Kozmice – Culture, History and Hlučín Lake
Kozmice between local history and the lakeshore
Kozmice combines a distinctive landscape with historical details and its own recreational area at Hlučín Lake. This creates a balance for your travel planning between cultural history in the village, the landscape around Kozmický Hill and activities on the water.
Historical traces in Kozmice
The parish church in Kozmice, dedicated to Saint Florian, was solemnly consecrated on 18 October 1936. Inside, there is a painting of the Holy Family from the first half of the 19th century. This means that the site brings together a clearly dated church event and a significantly older work of art. A visit can therefore combine the church’s history with a look at its preserved interior furnishings.
The historical details also include a listed barn with an enclosing wall. The enclosing wall is a separate structural element of the rural ensemble and dates from the late 19th century.
Kolečkův mlýn was built as a water mill in 1845. A small hydroelectric power station has been in operation there since 1997. The mill site combines a specific construction date with a technical use that continues to the present day.
The Boží muka in Horní konec are also part of the local history. They are called Švédská kaple and are a copy of a roadside shrine that stood next to the former Jägerhaus guardhouse. Alongside the church, barn and mill, this means that a smaller religious monument is also one of Kozmice’s historical points of interest.
Landscape around Kozmický Hill
Kozmice lies around Kozmický Hill, one of the more distinctive elevations of the Hlučín Upland. Its summit is the highest point south of the municipality and forms a prominent landscape feature there.
Recreation and sports at Hlučín Lake
At the southern edge of Kozmice’s cadastral area, Hlučín Lake is home to an existing, stabilised and developable recreational area. It expands the existing Hlučín sports and leisure complex and also extends into the neighbouring cadastral area of Hlučín. The lake is therefore one of the features that make Kozmice interesting for travel planning beyond its local history.
In the area assigned to Kozmice, you can relax on the lake’s green shores and enjoy sporting activities in the boathouse and on the existing sports grounds. You can also try paddleboarding at Hlučín Lake. The different areas suit different daily rhythms: relaxation takes centre stage on the green shores, while the boathouse and sports grounds enable active use. Paddleboarding adds an activity directly on the lake to this selection. This allows you to shape your stay around culture, landscape and movement without limiting Kozmice to just one of these areas.
