Discover Mořkov

Mořkov combines marked trails, cycling, regional events and specific cultural attractions into a destination with many different facets. You can choose the village as a starting point for a hike, follow a route by bicycle, learn about local traditions or discover sights in the village. Hiking and cycling around Mořkov

A yellow-marked hiking trail leads from Mořkov to the saddle below Krátká. Another route is marked green and leads from Mořkov via Huštýn to Zašová. The two trails lead from the village to different destinations.

The Valašsko cycling route also passes through Mořkov, connecting to other routes. This makes it possible to combine a ride through Mořkov with further routes.

Huštýn and the surrounding landscape

Huštýn is not only part of the green-marked route to Zašová. The area includes a valuable geomorphological frost cliff formed from Godula layers. A frost cliff is a rock formation shaped by the effects of frost. A natural forest stand with rare and endangered plant and animal species adjoins the rocky area. This combination gives the landscape a distinctive natural-history character and provides the route via Huštýn with a specific connection to the surrounding landscape.

Culture and sights in the village

Mořkov itself also offers destinations for a quieter part of the day. Visitors can see the Chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows and the Red Army Monument. In the Church of Saint George, the main altar dates from 1667. This precise historical date makes the altar a particularly tangible detail for anyone who, when exploring the village, wants to take note not only of the building itself but also of individual evidence of its history.

Events and regional specialties

Mořkov's event calendar is shaped by several traditional dates. The Mořkovská pouť pilgrimage festival traditionally takes place in April. The Pochod Okolo Mořkova walking event is held every year at the beginning of May. Refreshments such as Mořkovské koláče pastries, goulash, smoked sausage, cabbage soup, kettle-cooked meat soup and sweets are offered at the Pochod. The O mořkovský koláč event also takes place in autumn. Anyone wishing to plan their stay around an event should take these different periods into account when organizing their trip.

Horse riding on the outskirts

On the outskirts of Mořkov, the U Juráška Riding Club offers recreational horse riding. Horses are also available for hire there, and trail rides are offered. Alongside hiking and cycling, horse riding therefore adds to the village's range of activities.

Getting to Mořkov

Mořkov can be reached via the II/483 main road and the Ostrava–Kojetín railway line running along the southern edge of the village. The two transport routes differ in their course: the main road is designated II/483, while the railway line runs along the southern edge of the village.
