Discover Albrechtičky: Poodří, Culture and Cycling Route

Between the Oder River, cultural heritage and protected ponds

Albrechtičky is located in the central part of the Poodří Protected Landscape Area on the right bank of the Oder. The protected landscape area shapes the character of the village with its protected landscapes and ponds. In the village, architectural history and local memory meet an environment that can be explored by bicycle.

The Kotvice Nature Reserve is located near Albrechtičky. It consists of a system of ponds containing specially protected plant species. These habitats serve as breeding and refuge areas for waterfowl and other aquatic and marsh animals. Albrechtičky is also considered a good starting point for a visit to this nature reserve. The surrounding area therefore ranges from tranquil pond landscapes to habitats that play an important role for various animal species.

Church and museum: two gateways to the history of the village

St. Nicholas Church acquired its present form between 1890 and 1892. It contains the crypt of the Counts Vetter von Lilien. The crypt complements the dated architectural history with a distinct historical connection to the count’s family. This building thus brings together a clearly dated architectural history and a historical testament to the count’s family.

The municipal museum is housed in a log house built in 1865. There, you can learn about the history of the municipality and explore the way of life and cultural traditions of the local community in past centuries. The log house built in 1865 provides a tangible architectural setting for presenting the history of the municipality, former ways of life and cultural traditions. The Albrechtičky Information Centre is located in the last surviving log house.

The Marian Column now stands in a public square by the fire station. In 2013, it was moved there from a private garden. Its present location is therefore just as much a part of its history as its former place in the private garden.

Cycling route, leisure centre and a special summer event

Cycling Route No. 5, “Moravská brána”, passes through Albrechtičky. It is also called the “Jantarová stezka”. Thus, a cycling route runs through the village under two names.

The Albrechtičky Leisure Centre has a multi-purpose sports field for tennis, small-sided football, volleyball, nohejbal and streetball. In addition, the Neckyáda takes place every year in mid-July at the Fojtovka Reservoir. It is a competition involving floating constructions on the water. The multi-purpose sports field and the summer event therefore represent different forms of leisure activities.

At the end of May 2008, a hobby golf course and a children’s playground were opened in the garden of the cultural centre. The opening in 2008 does not automatically indicate that they still exist today.
