Dotterwies between Scenic Views, Water and History
Scenic Views, Water and History
A rocky outcrop at Chodaublick opens up a wide view over Chodov as far as Hory, Vintířov, Nové Sedlo and Karlovy Vary. At the foot of Liščí kopec near Tatrovice lies the Štola Bílá paní: its main tunnel is approximately 40 metres long and curves towards the southwest; the only side tunnel was hewn into the rock towards the northeast.
Panoramic Views at Chodaublick and Paths through the Countryside
Chodaublick is a viewpoint in Tatrovice. From a rocky outcrop at Chodaublick, the view extends over Chodov as far as Hory, Vintířov, Nové Sedlo and Karlovy Vary. The view therefore stretches across several places as far as Karlovy Vary, placing Chodov, Hory, Vintířov and Nové Sedlo on the same horizon.
From Tatrovice, follow the yellow hiking trail markings to Chodovská vyhlídka. The official route runs along the Tatrovický potok and continues to Tatrovice. The route along the water makes the walk a landscape experience in its own right, while the yellow markings help with orientation between Tatrovice and Chodovská vyhlídka.
The Tatrovice Dam as a Landmark Structure
The Tatrovice Dam was built between 1966 and 1969 as a water-supply reservoir for the Vřesová industrial complex. Its construction is therefore part of the region’s technical and industrial history. The construction period from 1966 to 1969 provides a chronological contrast to the older evidence of the church and statue in Tatrovice. A car park is located directly below the dam. The structure and car park thus form a clear point of orientation at the dam.
Church and Statues in Tatrovice
The polychrome late-Baroque statue of Saint John of Nepomuk still stands in the central part of the former village green. It dates from 1783. Its date adds a later Baroque testimony to the older ecclesiastical history represented by St. Erhard.
The original Gothic parish church of St. Erhard was built in the first half of the 14th century. The church has been a protected monument since 3 May 1958. It is occasionally accessible. For viewing, a distinction must therefore be made between the exterior impression and the only occasionally possible glimpse inside.
The Štola Bílá paní and Its Old Tradition
The Štola Bílá paní is a tunnel at the foot of Liščí kopec near Tatrovice. The main tunnel is approximately 40 metres long and curves towards the southwest; the only side tunnel was hewn into the rock towards the northeast. Before the Second World War, the tunnel was known to residents of the surrounding communities as the “Cave of the White Lady”.
