Nature Trail and Views over Oloví

Bleistadt combines short discoveries with a marked circular route through the history and landscape of Oloví. The Oloví Nature Trail is marked with information boards and ceramic directional arrows. All variants of the nature trail end at Šibeniční vrch by the Cibulka Viewing Tower.

The Cibulka Viewing Tower is freely accessible all year round. From there, you can enjoy views in every direction. Among other sights, you can see the town of Oloví, the ridges of the Ore Mountains, the Sokolov Basin, the Slavkov Forest and Smrčiny with Zelená hora. For you, this makes the viewpoint a place where several landscape regions can be viewed together without the individual regions losing their own names.

Churches, Chapels and Mining History

The Church of Saint Michael the Archangel is a Neo-Gothic building constructed between 1901 and 1902 by the builder Emil Litka from Sokolov. The church is listed as an architectural monument. Inside is a rare Gothic statue of the Madonna from the 15th century. The architecture and furnishings therefore provide two different historical points of reference for visitors.

The Chapel of Saint Joseph dates from around 1550 and commemorates the former mining industry in Oloví. After reconstruction began in 2004, it was rebuilt from the remaining foundation walls. The Chapel of the Most Holy Trinity also points to the region's past: it is an artificial grotto built from slag from the former ironworks in Rotava. Historically, it served as a small pilgrimage destination for Oloví, Libnov, Dolina, Krajková and Hřebeny.

The St. Anna hereditary adit is also part of the mining theme. It drained large parts of the summit areas of Eisenberg and Röflerberg. At the “Geologické metamorfózy” station, the focus is on blue-grey galena crystals, which are rarely found embedded in whitish-grey quartz. The station also explains how miners followed ore veins from the valley and drove adits with a slight gradient so that water could drain away.

Short Connection or Longer Circular Route

A marked route from the Church of Saint Michael the Archangel in Oloví to the Cibulka Viewing Tower is approximately 2.3 km long. It initially follows blue markings and then yellow markings. The longer option, the marked “Okolo Oloví” circular route, is 16.4 km long and moderately difficult. On the way back, it leads to Oloví railway station via a cycle route. The different distances allow you to choose between a short walk to the viewpoint and a longer tour by bicycle.
