Tüppelsgrün: Water, Paths and Local History

Water landscapes and paths around Tüppelsgrün

Tüppelsgrün appeals to travelers who want to combine water, paths and local history. In Děpoltovice, the educational trail “Water in the Landscape and the Nature Around Us” leads from the village center to the local natural swimming area. The transition from the village center to the water makes the educational trail an interesting standalone discovery alongside a cycling loop. Děpoltovický rybník is used for swimming in a natural setting; its beaches are sandy and planted with greenery.

Cycling Route No. 2012 also runs through the Děpoltovice area. It leads from Nová Role to Děpoltovický rybník, continues to Velký rybník and then on to Hroznětín. Within Děpoltovice, the route runs through the southern part, passing through the agricultural enterprise and the castle grounds, and then heads toward Ruprechtov. This sequence combines the water landscape, village area and castle surroundings into a varied route.

Chapel, Church and Castle History

The local history includes several buildings from different periods. The chapel in Děpoltovice was built as early as the 18th century in front of half-timbered house No. 55, known as “At the Tailor’s.” It stands on the local road on the left bank of the Vitický potok in the village center. The present-day Baroque Church of St. Michael the Archangel was built in 1786–1787; it is occasionally accessible.

The so-called New Castle, Nový zámek in Czech, was probably built in the second half of the 17th century. By 1843, it had been extended by a north wing in the Empire style. The north wing supplements the older core with a distinctly later Empire-period phase. The outdoor areas are accessible, while the buildings are in a dilapidated condition.

Memorial Site and Local Activities

The memorial to the victims of the First World War was erected in 1930 and fully reconstructed in summer 2015. It commemorates 29 fallen soldiers from Děpoltovice and 11 from Lužec. The memorial site connects the local history of 1930 with a renewal in summer 2015. The memorial is freely accessible and complements the architectural history with a specific place of remembrance in the village.

Pegas in Děpoltovice offers horseback rides and riding lessons. The 7th Pegas Guláš Fest is also announced for 2026, featuring a competition to cook goulash in a kettle and tastings for visitors. Thus, the horseback rides are joined by an announced culinary event that can add a local experience to your stay. The event therefore forms part of the local experience and food culture as an announced date; you should take its status into account when making specific plans.
