Klamoš Between Local History and Landscape

Klamoš reveals its special features through a combination of local history, landscape and regional routes. The Smírčí kámen is a cultural heritage site of local significance dating from 1713. It is located south of the Homolák pond in the Klamoš district.

Further historical landmarks can be found in the village centre. Near the fire station there is a stone cross with the corpus of Christ, while a memorial near the municipal office commemorates the victims of the Second World War. The Boží muka were also erected in the village centre in 1852. This happened after the robot obligation was abolished in 1849 and people were freed. The historical milestones are therefore not confined to archives; they are anchored at specific points throughout the village.

The Štít district also offers its own points of interest for discovering cultural history. A wooden bell tower stands in its centre. The oldest written mention of Klamoš dates from 1356; it is found in church records in the archive of Prague Castle.

Protected Trees, Biotope and Pond

One of the distinctive landscape features is the Klamošská lípa. This protected commemorative tree stands southeast of Klamoš, beyond the village, on the road to Přepych. It is a small-leaved lime with a trunk circumference of 400 cm and a height of 20 m. A second protected commemorative tree is the Sovův dub. It stands south of the built-up area of Štít in a woodland complex. The English oak has a trunk circumference of 549 cm and is 25.1 m tall.

The woodland complex in the Klamoš cadastral area also includes the regional biotope corridor centre RBC 1754 Klamošsko at NRBK K71 MH. The term refers to a component of the regional biotope network; for classifying the landscape area, its exact location in the Klamoš cadastral area remains decisive. The Homolák pond lies within the built-up area of Klamoš and covers 0.64 ha. It also provides the spatial reference point for the Smírčí kámen located to the south.

Cycling Route and Designated Areas

For active days, Klamoš has permanently designated areas for football, multipurpose use and a children’s playground. The Chlumecký okruh z Břehů cycling route, which passes through Klamoš, offers another specific point of orientation.

For arriving by car, the nearby I/36 road is relevant. It connects Klamoš to the D11 motorway, but it is not located directly within Klamoš; it is in the immediate vicinity.
