Bohutín

Bohutín combines experiences in nature with a clearly visible mining and church tradition. The town is suitable for travellers who do not want to limit their stay to a single attraction: paths lead into the Brdy Mountains, an educational trail introduces the region, and historic sites tell the story of mining and religious life.

Educational Trail and Paths into the Brdy Mountains

The Fabiánova naučná stezka educational trail runs through Bohutín. It highlights local sights and familiarises tourists and cyclists with the distinctive landscape of the region. In this way, the trail combines orientation with an in-depth exploration of the town, without Bohutín having to be understood merely as a starting point for a single attraction.

The signposted Příbram–Bohutín cycle route No. 302a also runs through the town. Bohutín is also the starting point for cycling and walking routes into the Brdy Mountains. For your trip planning, this provides a clear choice between exploring areas closer to the town and taking excursions into the surrounding landscape. Those travelling with varied interests can therefore combine culture, exercise and observing nature during their stay.

Water, Swimming Area and Local Events

Vysokopecký Pond also serves as a swimming area. It complements the walking and cultural experiences with an opportunity to enjoy the water. At the third Bohutínské pstruhobraní event on 13 April, free fishing and an accompanying programme for children were scheduled at the fire pond or swimming basin in Bohutín from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Mining History Above and Below Ground

The Řimbabská Gallery follows the so-called Hlavní Řimbabská Vein for approximately 300 m. Visits to the underground Řimbabská Gallery must always be booked in advance.

Above ground, the Rudolfka observation tower stands on the former headframe of a mine in Bohutín. The tower is 40 m high and is climbed via a transparent spiral staircase. The Muzeum mikroregionu Bohutínska is located on the site of the former Řimbaba mine.

The historical background reaches further back: Ores containing silver were processed in the Březová-Hory ore district, with the polymetallic deposits of Březové Hory and Bohutín, at least as early as the 13th century. Bohutín is therefore not only a destination for exploring the landscape, but also for visitors who want to discover the region’s economic and mining history first-hand.

Church and Living Tradition

The Church of Saint Mary Magdalene was rebuilt in its original pseudo-Gothic form after a fire in 1950 and reconsecrated. The pilgrimage to Saint Mary Magdalene continues to be celebrated on the first Sunday after 22 July. Together, these facts connect the building with an enduring religious tradition and give a visit to the town an additional cultural focus alongside nature and mining.
