Historical Sites in the Town

The Kostel Svatého Mikuláše church already stood in Krásná Hora nad Vltavou before 1350. Another notable detail is the Kamenný korec: the round, bowl-shaped measure rests on a square stone pedestal with a small opening on the side. The pedestal is younger than the bowl and bears the year 1822.

The clock tower of the Radnice town hall is a characteristic landmark on the square. The Baroque, rounded Mariánský sloup column bears a gilded statue of the Virgin Mary and was erected in 1772. Between the church and the school stands the Památník padlým monument, commemorating those who fell in the First World War.

Another memorial site is the Památník letců. It commemorates three airmen who died in accidents. On September 5, 1929, a reconnaissance aircraft and a fighter aircraft collided near Přední Chlum during a military exercise. The town's history goes back even further: On January 11, 1351, Charles IV confirmed Krásná Hora's privileges as a royal mining town. The gold mined there was used together with gold from Knín and Jílové to mint gold coins.

There are several connections for cycling tours. Cycle Route 8138 connects Krásná Hora with Radeč. Cycle Route 111 runs from Sedlčany to Krásná Hora nad Vltavou, while Cycle Route 301 connects Buš with Krásná Hora nad Vltavou. This allows you to compare different starting points and directions for planning your own day without combining the routes into a single itinerary.

There is also a specific destination for walkers: the path to the Viklan Vindiš glacial erratic passes by the Obecňák pond. The yellow hiking trail marking then follows a forest path to the erratic. Viklan Vindiš lies one kilometer from the town above the valley of the Pivoňka stream, south of the Na Krámcích summit at an elevation of 449 m above sea level. An information board at the erratic provides information about local history as well as native fauna and flora.

The Lesní svět educational trail (Vletická naučná stezka) runs in the vicinity of the Vletice settlement near Krásná Hora nad Vltavou. The former Tvrz fortress is also part of the area's historical heritage: it was built in 1554, had a Baroque core, was later converted into a granary and has been protected as a historic monument since 1991.
