Historical traces in the village

The first historically documented building in Sádek was the farmstead of the Zajíců z Valdeka family on the present-day village green. The village green is therefore not only a designation for a place, but is also connected with Sádek’s early documented history.

The historical field name “U páně dvora” has been preserved in Sádek’s cadastral area. The name Sádek most probably originated as a diminutive of “sad”, the Czech word for orchard. Both references offer a glimpse into the traditional place names and the way history is preserved in the landscape.

The so-called Panský dvůr belonged to the Sasků ze Sádku family. Nailmaking was also widespread on the old farmsteads of Sádek.
