Nová Ves between Waterways and Village History

Nová Ves brings together waterways, the village center, and village history. The Zlonínský stream flows through Nová Ves; at the eastern edge, the Měšický stream flows into this watercourse. This means that the spatial orientation leads from the center to the eastern edge, while the northern settlement edge forms another focal point. Those who want to get to know the village through more than a single destination can connect these different locations and consider the natural setting, village center, and local history together.

Chapel and Village Green in the Center

The Chapel of Saints Peter and Paul stands in the center of Nová Ves. It was consecrated on June 29, 1934. A small bell tower, also dating from 1934, stands on the village green. The chapel and bell tower are therefore two central local landmarks from the same year. Their location brings the village green and chapel together in a shared historical perspective.

Wayside Crosses and Traces of the Eneolithic Period

At the intersection of the roads to Mratín and Jiřice stands a cast-iron cross on a concrete base. A second, identical cast-iron cross is located on the outskirts of Nová Ves on the road to Měšice. The two crosses differ in their locations: one stands at an intersection, while the other stands on the village outskirts. At the same time, they are connected by their identical cast-iron design; the first also stands on a concrete base. This comparison supplements the village center with two points along the roads to Mratín, Jiřice, and Měšice.

During the construction of the road toward Mratín, finds from the Late Eneolithic period were discovered in the second half of the 1920s. The chronological perspective therefore extends from a very early period to the dates associated with the chapel and bell tower from 1934. This sequence connects the archaeological past with visible local details from the 20th century.

Easter Rattling from Maundy Thursday to Holy Saturday

The Easter rattle procession in Nová Ves takes place from Maundy Thursday to Holy Saturday. During the traditional Easter rattling, the “Páni” leaders oversee compliance with established rules. The custom therefore includes both a precisely defined period and regulated responsibility. Žebrák Pond, Sports, and Bus Connection

At the northern edge of the settlement, on the cadastral boundary with Čakovičky, the TJ Sokol Nová Ves sports complex is located by Žebrák Pond. This creates three distinct areas for spatial orientation: the center with the chapel and bell tower, the eastern edge with the confluence of the waterways, and the northern edge with the pond and sports complex. This allows you to consider cultural points, waterways, and the sports area separately when planning your visit.

For travel to the area, PID bus route 351 serves the Nová Ves (PH) stop on the route between Letňany and Neratovice. This connection supplements orientation within the village with a specific travel route.
