Mnichovo Hradiště

Mnichovo Hradiště combines castle culture, a long local tradition, and special discoveries in nature. The town lies in the immediate vicinity of the Bohemian Paradise Protected Landscape Area. At the same time, the state-owned Mnichovo Hradiště Castle is the town’s most significant monument. Castle Complex and Living Tradition

The Mnichovo Hradiště castle complex includes the castle park and the Chapel of St. Anne, with the tomb of military commander Albrecht von Wallenstein. The castle park expands the complex with a place to spend time in nature, while the chapel and tomb deepen its historical significance. In this way, the building, park, and memory of Albrecht von Wallenstein are directly connected. The Svatoanenská pouť pilgrimage has its own distinctive cultural character. The timing is particularly important for planning: the date is not determined by an arbitrary Sunday, but by the saint’s feast day.

The forest park in Mnichovo Hradiště features enormous wooden sculptures based on local legends. QR codes on the sculptures provide access to their stories. The park thus combines visible figures with stories from the town. The information boards along a children’s educational trail add another way to explore the forest park together and with different age groups.

The forest park also contains a pseudokarst cave that visitors can look into. The Bohemian Paradise and the Golden Trail

The immediate proximity of the Bohemian Paradise Protected Landscape Area broadens the view beyond the town. The Golden Trail of the Bohemian Paradise follows a route listed as 25 km long from Mladá Boleslav via Michalovice, Josefův Důl, Bakov nad Jizerou, Klokočka, and Klášter Hradiště nad Jizerou to Mnichovo Hradiště. The stated length of 25 km helps put the scale of the route into perspective. The Golden Trail can thus be viewed as a continuous connection between several places, without assuming any additional stages or travel times.
