Nepřevázka – Chlum Nature Park, Trails and Švédské šance

Nepřevázka can be explored through its landscape, trails and unusually far-reaching traces of settlement. Chlum Nature Park brings wooded and grass-covered slopes into your travel plans; the educational trail, forest path and cycling routes offer different ways to explore the surrounding area. This makes it possible to combine nature observation, trail experiences and cultural history in a single stay, without limiting Nepřevázka to just one focus for an excursion. This allows you to give flexible emphasis to nature observations, trail experiences and historical sites, depending on which part of the surroundings you want to place at the centre of your visit.

Chlum Nature Park and trails through the landscape

Chlum Nature Park consists of wooded and grass-covered slopes. It is home to 54 endangered plant species. The nature park has also been included in Natura 2000 as a site of European importance. The alternation between woodland and open slopes accompanies the trails through the nature park and creates a distinct contrast in the landscape. The plant life also gives walks and explorations an additional focus on natural history. This alternation in terrain forms is therefore an integral part of the trail experience when taking in the nature park.

Behind Nepřevázka, the Chlum Educational Trail initially passes through flower-rich meadows. Beyond Chloumek, it runs along the edge of heat-loving oak forests and leads to the well-known Švédské šance hillfort. This route therefore combines open meadows, the transition to oak woodland and a historical destination. Anyone wishing to connect nature and history along the way will find different landscapes and a clear change in theme on the same route.

A forest path leads from Nepřevázka to Chloumek. A memorial plaque at the hunting lodge in Chloumek commemorates Bedřich Smetana’s stay. Below the hunting lodge in Chloumek, a drinking-water spring feeds a fountain where you can refresh yourself. The path can thus be combined with a cultural memorial site and a specific stop by the water.

History at Švédské šance

Archaeological finds indicate that Švédské šance has been settled since the Palaeolithic. In the Early Middle Ages, a strongly fortified settlement of the Slavic Charváti tribe was established at Švédské šance. Švédské šance is also an earthwork dating from the period of the earliest settlement of the landscape. Several layers of history therefore stand side by side at Švédské šance: the early settlement, the fortification in the Early Middle Ages and the form of the earthwork.

Trails, culture and choosing where to stay

The chapel in Nepřevázka is also worth seeing. Two newly established cycling routes and a restored path start directly from Nepřevázka. These routes expand the choice between a walking excursion, a cycling tour and an exploration focused on cultural history. When looking for accommodation, you can choose your preferred focus: the nature park and plant life, the educational trail and cultural history, or cycling on the routes leading from Nepřevázka. For planning your day, the main consideration is therefore whether open slopes and meadows, oak woodland and the hillfort, or the paths around the village should take centre stage.
