Husí Lhota: Chapel, Manor Farms and Landscape History

Husí Lhota is located about 11 km from Mladá Boleslav in the direction of Jičín and near Český ráj. The village combines this clearly defined location with a history that can be seen in a chapel, historic farmsteads, ponds and former landscape structures. This creates a destination where cultural history and a specific cycling route can be combined.

St. Anne’s Chapel on the Village Green

St. Anne’s Chapel was built in 1823 on the village green of Husí Lhota. Its construction was financially supported by the residents of Husí Lhota and by Jan Tichý. The chapel was extended in 1908. In 1923, it was used communally. Next to the chapel stands a bell tower built in 1862, which has survived in unchanged form to this day. The chapel and bell tower thus represent two elements from different periods of the same local history.

Manor Farms and the Founding Building of the Village

Other historical points of interest include a hunting lodge built in 1849 at today’s House No. 3, as well as two manor farms that were also built in 1849 and are still standing today. The “Poplužní dvůr” was the founding building of Husí Lhota.

Forests and Ponds as Part of the Landscape History

The landscape around Husí Lhota also bears historical traces. In the past, the forests on the northern side extended as far as the village buildings. Some ponds in Husí Lhota have survived to this day. Together with the proximity of Český ráj, this information provides orientation for travellers who wish to consider landscape features alongside architectural history when making their choice.

Cycling and the Connection to Mladá Boleslav

One specific way to include Husí Lhota in an active itinerary is the 51 km, very easy MTB loop tour “Ml. Boleslav–Branžež–Dlouhá Lhota–Ml. Boleslav”. Its route passes through Husí Lhota. With its length and very easy difficulty level, it can be planned as a longer, comparatively easy outing for an active day. The ŠKODA CLASSIC TOUR route also passed through the village. The ŠKODA CLASSIC TOUR is organised annually for its employees by an automobile manufacturer from Mladá Boleslav. Husí Lhota is therefore connected both with a designated cycling loop and with an annually held automotive event.

Transport and Regional Connections

The Husí Lhota bus stop is served by PID lines 714 and 736. Another cultural connection is the traditional 38th Meeting of the Lehòty and Lhot: it took place from 5 to 8 July 2018 in Dlouhá Lhota and was jointly organised by Dlouhá Lhota and Husí Lhota.
