Nová Telib: Nature Park, Village History and Hiking Trails

Nová Telib combines a distinctive landscape with a richly detailed heritage site. It lies in the Dolnojizerská tabule upland, on a plateau at the end of the valley of the Žerčický potok stream. At the same time, the village is situated in a broad depression above the headwaters of the Žerčický potok. The settlement lies between predominantly forested, rounded ridges, and the municipal area extends along the southern slopes of the Chloumecký hřbet ridge. This gives you a clear impression of the area's landscape character right from the start.

Landscape Between the Plateau and the Nature Park

The surrounding Chlum Nature Park gives Nová Telib peaceful surroundings with coniferous and deciduous forests. To the north, Telib, at 322 metres above sea level, is the highest point near Nová Telib. Several landscape forms are therefore closely connected here: the plateau, the depression, the forested ridges and the summit area of the Chloumecký hřbet ridge. These differences make the village interesting if you would like to combine experiences in nature with discovering a smaller Czech village.

Heritage Site and Village History

The protected heritage site includes a wooden bell tower of the gable type and a niche chapel. The chapel stands beneath a mature lime tree, while the bell tower is located about two metres to the east. A new bell dedicated to Saint Peter, weighing 18 kilograms, was cast for the bell tower. Several traditional timber-framed vernacular buildings also continue to form part of Nová Telib's traditional village character.

The niche chapel also offers an interesting historical detail: it may date from the 16th century, while the expressive quality of its sculptures points to a date of origin around the middle of the 18th century. It is precisely this chronological tension that makes the small heritage area an illustrative part of your visit to the village, without requiring you to settle on a single date.

Marked Trail, Mountain Bike Route and Bus Line

A blue-marked hiking trail runs via Mladá Boleslav, Holé Vrchy, Dolánky, Kladěruby, Nová Telib and Lhotky. Through Nová Telib, the trail passes through the nature park in the summit area and along the slopes of the Chloumecký hřbet ridge. For a longer cycling tour, the mountain bike route “MB_Nova Telib_Jabkenice_MB” is also described. It begins in Mladá Boleslav and runs via Plazy, Nová Telib, Domousnice, Jabkenice, Dražice and Krnsko.

Even without travelling by bicycle, there is a documented connection: Bus line 260980 runs on weekdays from Mladá Boleslav via Nová Telib and Kobylnice to Žerčice, with five services in each direction. Small public parking areas are located by the inn in the village centre.

Nová Telib as a Starting Point for Planning Your Trip

When choosing your accommodation, you can first consider whether the forests and marked trails or the protected heritage site and village history are more important to you. Nová Telib offers specific points of interest for both: the nature park and ridges for the landscape, the chapel and bell tower for culture, and a bus line and parking options for getting your bearings locally.
