Discover Milín: History, Trails and Traditions

Milín is a place for days when history, nature-related activities and recurring local traditions come together. You can visit a distinctive monument and an unusual church, explore nature trails with interactive stations and enjoy cultural offerings in the town. Memorial Sites and St. Wenceslas

The Victory Monument stands in the municipality of Milín on a hill between Milín and its settlement of Slivice. It is dominated by two pylons made of light Liberec granite, measuring 10.5 and 11 metres in height respectively. The monument commemorates the last battle of the Second World War on the European continent and the final defeat of Hitler’s German army. Memorial ceremonies and battle re-enactments are held there every year.

St. Wenceslas Church was created by converting a granary dating from 1824. The builder Antonín Bastl from Příbram constructed it between 1887 and 1890. After being damaged by an air raid in 1945, the church was repaired between 1946 and 1948. On 27 September 1890, it was consecrated by Metropolitan Canon Dr František Krásl.

Nature Trails and Marked Routes

In the vicinity of Milín, the Vrančická draha nature trail runs around a pasture. Wooden arrows mark the route, and at its entrance, an information board with a map shows the location of the individual stations.

The Milín–Vrančice nature trail includes an educational circuit and a sports and recreational circular route. The shorter circuit is approximately 1.7 kilometres long and has six stations. Altogether, the nature trail offers six play and interactive stations focused on nature-related topics, particularly for children.

Cycle Route 302 and two marked hiking trails also pass through Milín. This allows you to set different priorities when planning your day without limiting your choice of destination to a single type of experience.

Information, Cinema and Local Customs

The Centrum volnočasových aktivit serves visitors as a cultural, information and tourism centre. There you can obtain information about the region, current event announcements, bus connection details, Milín brochures and tourist stamps. The centre includes a publicly accessible garden with a climbing wall, Russian skittles, a children’s sandbox, benches and a summer pavilion.

Milín Cinema regularly screens films, usually on Fridays and also on Tuesdays twice a month. School and special screenings are also held. Milín’s Masopust has been a recurring tradition since 2008 and includes a procession through the town with stops for performances and dancing. The Pochod malých broučků is also one of Milín’s recurring traditions and reached its 27th edition.
