Kačice between Džbán and the Kačák

Kačice lies on the edge of Džbán Nature Park and on the left bank of the Loděnice stream, locally also known as the Kačák. Kačice thus combines a distinctive landscape setting with nature trails, local history and historic buildings. This makes it a destination where cycling, hiking and cultural exploration can be balanced in different ways. The streamside landscape takes centre stage along the water, while trails into the nature park connect the edge of the village with the surrounding area.

Cycling and hiking trails

Cycle Route 0105 runs through Stochov, Čelechovice, Kačice, Srby and Kamenné Žehrovice and is 8.55 km long in total. The precise route sequence helps you include several places along one connection in your plans. Kačice railway stop is suitable as a starting point for a cycling trip into Džbán Nature Park.

A red-marked hiking trail runs along the southern edge of Kačice beside the Loděnice, also known as the Kačák, and leads from Lodenice near Mšecké Žehrovice to Loděnice near Beroun. A yellow-marked hiking trail leads from Kačice northwards to the Obora forester's lodge and then continues to Smečno. This allows you to distinguish between a route along the stream and a connection heading north.

Mill, chapel and rural architecture

Koulův mlýn dates from 1666, was converted to steam power at the end of the 19th century and, together with an adjoining steam dairy, formed an industrial complex. The former Koulův mlýn is now Otevřený mlýn; visitors can arrange a personal tour of the entire site. The mill therefore combines its industrial history with a specific present-day visiting format.

The Chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk in Kačice is a Neo-Gothic niche chapel dating from 1851. Since 1993, Mass has been celebrated in the chapel on 16 May, the feast of Saint John of Nepomuk. At Masarykova 52, a farmstead complex includes a residential house, a barn, partially preserved stables, an enclosing wall and gates. It is probably an example of a half-timbered building dating from the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries.

Historical traces to guide your choice of location

In the 19th century, Kačice had a station on the Prague–Lány horse-drawn railway. The route of the former horse-drawn railway followed the Kačák as far as Čelechovice, where it crossed to the opposite bank via a bridge.
