Discover Královice: Culture, History and Riding Trails

Královice can be discovered through tangible historical evidence, local traditions and riding trails. During your stay, you can choose between traces of cultural history, distinctive structures, an exceptional tree and activities in transition. Along the way, you will encounter both carefully preserved or reconstructed elements and projects that are still taking shape.

Cultural History Between the Chapel, Fortress and Bridges

The chapel “Kaple sv. Archanděla Michaela” dates from the second half of the 18th century. It is listed as a cultural monument under registration number 35391/2-496 and was completely reconstructed in 2012. It therefore provides a clear historical connection, without implying anything about current use or visitor access.

The medieval fortress “Tvrz Královice” is first mentioned towards the end of the 14th century. At the fortress, the Renaissance alterations documented by the dating on the plaster of the tower’s southern façade date from 1562. At the same time, the fortress is unused and in critical condition. Its history therefore stands alongside the building’s present, explicitly described situation.

Another distinctive detail is the sandstone bridge “Pískovcový most”. It is a two-span arch bridge over the Bakovský potok, with statues of Saint Wenceslas and Saint John of Nepomuk standing on it. In addition, the stone road bridge over the Bakovský potok in Královice underwent extensive repairs from December 2014 to August 2015. The drainage was restored and some visible defects in its appearance were remedied.

Landscape Details and Local Tradition

The “Koulova lípa” has been protected as a memorial tree since 22 October 2012. It is a small-leaved lime, scientifically Tilia cordata, whose age is estimated at 250 to 270 years. For orientation, this tree complements the structures with a natural monument whose protection status is precisely dated and whose time perspective is unusually long.

The “Královické slavnosti a dožínky” are also part of the local character. They are described as a traditional local event; documented editions took place in 2018, 2019 and 2024. These dates describe verifiable editions and do not automatically constitute a fixed schedule of future events.

Riding Trails and Emerging Offers

The riding trail “Koňská stezka Královice–Neprobylice” connects Královice with Neprobylice. In addition, Královice is the main initiator of the newly emerging “Středočeská koňská stezka Sever-Jih”, which is intended to connect existing riding trails in the Ústecký Region and the South Bohemian Region. The maps for this project show riding routes as well as ranches where horses can be rented, overnight stays booked and meals offered. If you are focusing your trip on riding trails, you should distinguish between the connecting trail and the regional project that is still taking shape.

The project “Přírodní posilovna a workoutové hřiště” also forms part of a more active stay. It involves the construction of a permanently installed, freely accessible fitness facility with five separate exercise machines. The planned location is on a heavily frequented hiking trail between Královice and Neprobylice, in the immediate vicinity of newly created ponds and meadows. Describing it as a project indicates a planned undertaking, not an already completed offer.
