Plchov: Nature Trail, Village Green and Plchovský Pond

Plchov is a destination for you if you would like to get to know a place via a manageable circular trail, a distinctive body of water and village architectural history. The nature trail, Plchovský Pond, the chapel and a historic fire pump each add a different accent. This allows you to discover the village not only as a landscape, but also through specific stops and historical artefacts.

The Plchov nature trail as a common thread

The Plchov nature trail begins in the village centre, leads via Plchovský Pond and then returns there. The circular route is approximately 3.5 kilometres long. At nine stations, information boards provide interesting facts about the nature and sights of the municipality of Plchov. This gives you a clear starting point, a defined route and specific information points for planning your day. The length of the route and the number of stations also help you assess the walk in advance without having to explore the village through a long list of individual destinations.

Water and paths around Plchov

Plchovský Pond lies west of the village and covers seven hectares. The Bakovský stream runs approximately from west to east through the Plchov area. Together, the two bodies of water give the village a clearly defined landscape orientation. Around Plchov, the municipality has restored paths based on former municipal connections and continues to maintain them. Those who would like to include additional paths in their itinerary alongside the nature trail will therefore find an explicitly maintained network of routes. Roads of class III lead to Plchov.

Chapel, village green and firefighting history

The chapel in Plchov is a square Baroque building. It stands in the village centre on a comparatively large village green, making it a distinctive architectural feature of the village. There is a small bell turret on the roof, which formerly housed a bell. Another historical detail can be found in the fire station garage: a historic PS 16 fire pump from 1969 is on display there. Together with its former bell, the chapel thus complements the technical reminder represented by the fire pump with two different testimonies to the village's history.

A covered stage in summer

During the summer months, the covered stage in Plchov can be used for various events. The role this location plays in your stay depends on the time of year you travel; as a permanent feature, the stage forms part of the village's summer amenities. The nature trail, bodies of water, village green and historical details are therefore presented as separate themes and can be given specific weight in your further planning.
