Dublovice: Ponds, Nature and History

Dublovice combines protected nature, large bodies of water, marked trails and remarkable evidence of history. If you are looking for a variety of experiences on your trip, the themes here range from a valuable wetland and Musík Pond to a church, a historic farmstead and old transport routes.

Church, Farmstead and Historic Routes

The Church of the Holy Trinity stands in Malá Strana, the southwestern part of Dublovice. Its complex includes an oval cemetery and grounds enclosed by a massive stone wall with three entrances. A mortuary chapel is incorporated into the surrounding wall; the complex also includes an Empire-style crypt belonging to the Pistorius family. Several different examples of architectural and local history are therefore concentrated in one place.

In the southern part of Dublovice lies Farmstead No. 22, in what is probably the oldest settlement area around the Church of the Holy Trinity. Its gate dates from no later than the 17th century and features Late Gothic forms. The history of transport in the area also reaches far back: the Prague–Bechyně road, one of the oldest transport routes in Slavic Bohemia, ran through the cadastral territory of Dublovice. The Zrůbek–Sedlčany route was used to transport salt from the Vltava near Zrůbek to Sedlčany and beyond.

Ponds and Protected Nature

The Jezero Nature Reserve lies in the cadastral territory of Dublovice and covers 7.09 hectares. It protects a pond with a rich population of rare and specially protected insects, amphibians, reptiles and birds. The protected area also includes an important bird breeding site and the biodiversity of the communities living in the landscape.

Musík Pond has a water surface of 49.9 hectares. The pond's construction is attributed to the pond builder Jakub Krčín z Jelčan a Sedlčan. Thus, alongside Jezero's smaller protected habitat, Dublovice also offers a significantly larger body of water as an independent landscape feature. Jezero and Musík therefore combine nature observation and a waterscape without having the same character.

Cycling and Hiking in Dublovice

For cyclists, the 4-kilometre cycle route 8134 runs from Chlum near Nalžovice via Musík Pond to Dublovice. The route thus connects the starting point of Chlum near Nalžovice, the pond and Dublovice along a clearly defined course. Cycle route 8133 also runs through Dublovice on the Sedlčany – Příčovy – Dublovice – Chramosty route. It offers a different route from route 8134 and includes additional places. A blue-marked hiking trail runs through Dublovice along the Skrýšov – Zrůbek – Zvírotice – Křepenice route. When planning, this allows you to take different starting and destination points into account, as well as choose between cycling and hiking.
